Living Next Door to Bigots

Thanks to researchers at the University of Ulster, we now know the Northern Irish are officially great at bigotry. Topping a poll of 23 countries, we're the least likely to want Muslim, Jewish, gay or people from forr-in parts living next door to us.
Apparently we're mostly horrified at the thought of gay neighbours, followed by having foreign neighbours.
So how many of us are not expressing the ould cead míle failte as loudly and proudly as the tourist office would have others think? Well, 44% of us. Guess that means that a foreign family who move to the middle house in a street has a really good chance that at least one set of neighbours on either door would really rather not have them there. Nice.
The North came in just ahead of Greece for levels of bigotry. The lowest incidence of prejudice found to be in Sweden, Iceland, Canada and Denmark.
This however, does explain to me a mysterious love affair a Greek friend of mine had with Northern Ireland. He kept exclaiming 'You Irish, you are not like those cold northern countries, Sweden, Denmark, Norway. No. You are passionate and expressive like us Greeks. Hot-blooded people'.
Hmmmmm. Hot-bigot blood just keeps on flowing.

I say round up all the bigots, put them on an island and give them an array of weapons to exterminate each other. Oh, hang on, we've already done that...
