Pigeons, NYC, Coffee and After-eights

Well technically it is after eight, and although I'm not at a sophisticated dinner party, dressed in something clingy and fabulous, I think it's just fine if my breakfast is 3 after eights washed down by a huge mug of coffee.

So. The pigeons are still gone. They didn't come back after my murderous thoughts. And then my American friend donated a large plastic owl that she'd robbed from some apartment block in Chicago. Not sure that the owl is all that effective (check out youtube video below), but he's kinda comforting to have on my balcony.

And now that I don't have pigeons crapping everywhere, I got to clean the balcony up. It's all nice now. I don't mind going out there and having a coffee. Guess it's all sorted itself just in time for the bonfire building season...

I've been poor on the old blogging front recently. I guess working 10-14 hour days at a laptop doesn't make you all that inclined to blog once you've actually got through as much work as you can do in a day. My backblog for www.liquidelearning.com is embarrassing.

And it won't get any better next week. I'm in New York from next Monday for 8 days. I'm there to talk to Irish language learners and teachers about my website www.talkirish.com. Seems like Irish is a hot topic now, and Des Bishop, the Irish-American comedian, has a great show called 'In the name of the Fada' which tackles the national problem with the national language. Catch up with the show online at RTE.

Then it's back home to Ireland, just in time to babysit the Holy Godchild (who's about to turn 2) and her wee brother (who hasn't had a birthday party yet, so I assume he's not yet one) for the weekend.

Now, why does that scare me more than an 8 day business trip to New York?
