Fenians and Jaffas and Huns, oh my!
Yes another slice of Northern Irish life. The PSNI have published a little booklet advising its members on the words they shouldn't use to describe members of the public.Apparently, to avoid causing 'unintentional' offence, police officers should not refer to Catholics as fenians, taigs, chucks or spongers. And Protestants should not be referred to as huns, black, prods or jaffas.
The booklet is aimed at improving relationships between officers, staff and across the whole community.
