Factory Girls wins the CWIP award 🏆

It’s not often I’m speechless, but I was utterly lost for words last night when I found myself on stage with the legendary Helen Lederer after winning the CWIP Published Novel award.

Dressed like an escapee from a musical, I decided I would be best prepared for the fanciest night of my life by not eating dinner and accidentally drinking half a bottle of champagne. One hour later I found myself loudly cackling on the sofa in the Groucho Club with that bad influence, Llewelya Gideon. We were having so much fun that I totally missed Factory Girls being announced as the winner. I was dragged on stage by friends to be presented with a trophy that I clutched so hard I cut my hand. Twice. Faced with my complete inability to speak, the gorgeous Helen Lederer stepped in with a gracious acceptance speech on my behalf.

The next hour was a dizzying whirlwind of celeb spotting and congratulations…I even saw Sharon Horgan’s back. An incredible night. An amazing feeling.
